About
Lance Meier Jr, or LJ for short, is an American composer, producer, performer, audio engineer, and content creator located in Texas between Austin and Dallas.
​LJ was drawn to music at a young age and spent his formative years performing in various choirs, operas, and musical theater groups. LJ had the opportunity to sing with the Dallas Youth Orchestra and in the chorus for the Waco Lyric Opera.

When LJ went to college, music made sense, and he got his first degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on Vocal Performance at McLennan Community College. During this time, LJ led the bass section of the school's choir and performed as Dr. Turtlespit in Menotti's Help, Help the Globolinks, and as Pish-Tush in Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado.

LJ also has a great love for contemporary music and is an accomplished piano and guitar player. After College, Lance transitioned into popular music, playing, and singing with several blues, rock, and folk/Americana groups, as well as forming his own band, A Few Bucks Short.

For 20 years, LJ composed original music. Testing out his work in front of live audiences, LJ became a master at gauging audience reaction to his music while honing his songwriting craft.
Already an accomplished composer and performer, LJ decided to further his education in music to include modern music recording techniques and business practices with a degree in Music Production at Full Sail University where he graduated valedictorian. Here LJ learned how to compose, mix, and master music and audio for television, video games, film, contemporary artists, and more.
Following university, LJ founded his business, Music by LJ, and created his new stage persona and musical act, Broke LJ.

Throughout his life, LJ has used music to process difficult life events and emotions. Broke LJ is the culmination of that artistic drive, showcasing those musical works tackling topics like mental health, substance abuse, homelessness, grief, and more.
​
Music by LJ also houses Son’s Room Studios, a fully featured, music, audio, and video production studio. Through this studio LJ provides services like music composition, tracking, mixing, production and arrangement, music video and other video content production, and music business consulting and coaching for talented musicians looking to grow their reach and diversify their revenue streams.
